Financial Analyst
Financial Analyst - Midstream Power - The Role:
- Responsible for all aspects of short-term financial performance (historic and forecast); including PL, cash flow and balance sheet
- To provide first line support to the multiple business teams
- Planning:
Delivery of weekly price movement analysis: ensure the team remain close to price movements and their impact on generation and hedging, this will involve working closely with the commercial team
Delivery of the weekly short-term forecast: clear understanding of underlying assumptions, variables and business drivers
Input into the monthly forecasting pack: bring transparency to the monthly forecast and highlight key performance drivers.
- Reporting:
Delivery of month-end: support the Accounting Reporting team in producing the accounts, ensuring reported balances are accurate and variances are understood
Co-ordination of data capture submissions: ensuring appropriate review and understanding by the recipient
Produce the monthly business performance pack: bring transparency to the monthly results and highlight key performance drivers
Communicate financial outcomes including explanation of variances with an emphasis on providing insightful management information to improve decision-making.
- Business Support:
Integration of origination deals into planning and reporting
Review economic modelling to support value add decision making.
- Other:
Ad-hoc support as required.
Financial Analyst - Midstream Power: The Person:
Educated to degree level, with a recognised accounting qualification preferred
Bright, articulate and keen to learn
Organised, with experience of driving improvement
Personable, able to build relationships with a range of internal partners from both financial and non-financial backgrounds
Experience of analysing complex data and extracting key messages
IT literate – Excel essential, SAP and BW experience preferred
Some experience to the power market would be beneficial.

The Midstream team is both the trading arm of Centrica Energy - maximising profit from trading gas, power and related commodities - and the bridge between the Upstream and Power teams and British Gas, ensuring a reliable and competitive supply of gas and electricity for British Gas’ customers.
