Financial Analyst
PRIMARY FUNCTION / PRIMARY GOALS / OBJECTIVES:
Responsible for Division Flash and Monthly Reporting Package (MRP).
Administration of the Rate Development Fixed Plan process.
Consolidation and reporting of the IDV Planning process.
Maintaining the integrity of GES financial reporting and planning records.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
The accounting responsibilities are related to the monthly consolidation of GES' financial results and the preparation and reporting of the Division's chargeouts. This responsibility directly relates to the financial integrity of GES' financial statements and are critical to the success of GES' financial reporting structure.
Month End Close
This position is responsible for preparation and coordination of the monthly division Flash. As well as the initial review of MRP, including submission of journal entries in HFM, and preparation of supporting schedules. The incumbent must assure the MRP ties with monthly performance results. The incumbent will also be responsible for monthly tie-outs with non-Symphony divisions. In addition, this person coordinates the monthly division balance sheet analysis and balance sheet reviews with the Controller, prepares balance sheet reconciliations, and analyzes and clears the suspense account and Idocs, consolidates and reports division headcount and international charges. The person is responsible for preparation of consolidated financial results in accordance with SEC, FASB and Abbott CFM's (Corporate Finance Manual) in a timely manner with no material errors and will be responsible to abide by SOX financial reporting procedures.
Rate Development Fixed Plan
The incumbent is responsible for forecasting Fixed Admin charges for the Division, consolidation and reconciliation of Fixed expenses (Floorspace, Fixed Maintenance/Utilities, Insurance, Security, Depreciation) and distribution of these expenses to the correct Divisional departments.
IDV Planning Process
The incumbent is the primary contact for IDV's with all other Abbott divisions in the communication and reporting of IDV's. Responsibilities include preparation and consolidation of chargeouts, reporting to sister divisions and Corporate Financial Planning and assisting with answering questions and resolving issues as they occur.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
This position has responsibility for coordinating master data requests for the division and serves as the single point of contact for the Division. In addition, this person has responsibility of preparing the financial planning and reporting calendar for GES, coordination of division assessments, distributions, and recurring entries, administration of GES' records retention for financial reporting and planning, and ad hoc analysis.
ACCOUNTABILITY / SCOPE:
Accountability
The incumbent is responsible for review of GES performance unit and preparation of consolidating entries. Review of account balances for reasonableness. Incorporation/divestment of business operations as the Division changes in response to opportunities.
Scope
The position functions independently toward accomplishing the goals noted above. Frequent meetings occur with the Financial Reporting Manager and Controller to review results and obtain strategic direction.
Experience
The incumbent must have 2 - 4 years of accounting experience and must have significant financial experience and thorough familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The incumbent must have an excellent working knowledge of the impact of Abbott's accounting/financial policies and procedures. This position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills as there is considerable contact with a variety of Finance and Operating personnel at various levels.
Problem Solving
The position requires an understanding of the related functions both within the Division and the rest of the Corporation, including evaluating results and making recommendations for improvements. It also includes planning for constant change within the Division. The incumbent will also become involved with projects such as divisional reorganizations (disentanglements and divestitures) supporting these effects from a general ledger, departmental and divisional reporting perspective.
