QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business related field (submit copies of transcripts)
- Experience in researching and developing technical accounting procedures and positions in response to complex accounting issues, with the ability to draft position papers, suggest policy actions and otherwise provide formal written guidance to management regarding those issues
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, financial statements and business concepts
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills with emphasis on clear and effective presentations and professional documents
- Demonstrated above average analytical skills, including analysis, accuracy, broad business knowledge, etc.
- Demonstrated logical reasoning and problem solving skills
- Proven results in working in a fast-paced, decision support environment, including timeliness, accuracy, clarity and reliability of analysis
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to function as a highly effective team member, including collaborating with people from diverse skill levels and professional disciplines
- Demonstrated ability in managing multiple priorities and maintaining quality standards
- Consistent and progressive demonstration of practices focused on a high level of customer service balanced with objectivity and professionalism
- Demonstrated proficiency with use of PC applications, including spreadsheets, presentations and word processing
- Ability to properly adhere to standards for handling confidential information
- Minimum four years of experience in financial reporting, accounting/financial systems, and related accounting and financial control operations
- A valid Texas driver's license with a history of a safe driving record, in accordance with company policies, procedures, safety standards and applicable laws and regulations
PREFERRED:
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or comparable professional designation
- MBA with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum two years of working experience with SAP
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs technical research and writes position papers to ensure implementation of policies and procedures are well documented
- Monitors the activities of all accounting standard setting bodies and evaluates the impact on the company
- Evaluates and recommends procedures and policies that comply with accounting and financial regulatory bodies
- Communicates, both in writing and verbally, to all levels of company and external parties on theory and concepts that impact the organization
- Consults with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required
- Performs accounting functions related to investment activities and debt issuances
- Prepares, analyzes and distributes various financial and statistical reports, to include variance explanations, utilizing cost tracing and root-cause analysis
- Prepares schedules and supporting documents for annual external audit
- Performs reconciliations to ensure accuracy of data
- Prepares and updates desktop procedures, including flow charting and similar means, while assessing current processes and recommending process improvements
- Trains and provides technical advice to lower-level analysts
- Works on special projects and performs other duties as assigned
