Financial Analyst recruitment
Under Koch’s leadership, the company has become the world’s largest marketer of petroleum coke and calcined coke – a key ingredient in the manufacturing of aluminum. The company trades in other carbon and industrial products such as coal, gypsum, metcoke, anthracite and activated carbon. Oxbow Carbon also owns and operates one of the most productive underground coal mines in the United States, producing nearly five million tons of super-compliant coal annually.
Role and Responsibilities
Oxbow Commercial Risk Management Department measures, monitors, reports and controls Oxbow’s market risks and exposures. We are looking to hire a Financial Analyst within our department. The position reports directly to the Director of Risk Management. The duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supporting Deal Risk Analysis and Assessment for Commercial Risk Management
- Collecting, summarizing and analyzing data on potential deals including estimated prices, volumes and operating costs such as freight, shipping, or loading
- Assisting in building models of deal profitability that includes cash-flows, IRR (internal rate of return) and EBITDA ( earnings before interest and taxes)
- Summarizing and plotting various historical market prices
- Communicating with local commercial teams to better understand specific deal parameters
- Assisting in building models for scenario analysis and stress-testing of deal profitability over worst, expected and best cases
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- Commercial savvy. Ability to look at volume schedules/flows from the perspective of their contribution to gross profits.
- A thorough understanding or desire to learn Oxbow’s business structure, material flows, inventories and supply restrictions.
- Advanced quantitative skills in analyzing and summarizing large amount of data
- Advanced skills in MS Excel, including Excel functions and pivot tables and MS Access
- High level of accuracy
- Attention to detail
- Ability to deliver against tight deadlines and work extra hours as needed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, efficient, and able to work independently with limited supervision
Education and experience
- At least 2 years of experience in quantitative analysis
- 4-year college degree
