Department Overview

The Finance department covers Product, Financial control, FDS and Tax. Both Product and Financial Control are jointly responsible for the integrity of the financial records of Barclays Capital.

Main Function

The Finance Control function is responsible for oversight and governance of the Finance department and focuses on the following: Ensuring globally consistent framework of month end reporting. Assurance control monitoring of the Finance function conducting deep dive analysis of identified control and/or balance sheet risks.
Communication of control issues through formal and informal forums. Drive Implementation of control monitoring global platforms.

Main Duties

Control risk monitoring of Product Control (PC) and Financial Control (FC) line functions. Ensure that Americas PC and FC areas are complying with the global control requirements and global policy guidelines. Perform consultative deep dive reviews of control risks identified by line functions and recommendations resolution plans. Participate in the IT development of the various control related platforms helping in shaping strategic development. Write control policy guidelines in conjunction with the global team. Engage with Internal Audit, Operational Risk Management and Balance Sheet Control on issues of mutual interest. Engage with Compliance to coordinate Regulatory examinations on behalf of Finance Ad-hoc investigations
