Financial Control Projects Manager
About the role:
The Finance Project Team (FPT) team within the Group Corporate Centre contributes to the Legal Entity Control framework globally across Macquarie.
The FPT works closely with the LEC team, who are accountable for the financial affairs of all group entities across the globe, with limited exceptions.
The FPT manages the impairments, dividends and Australian Financial Service Licence (AFSL) monitoring framework. The team is also involved in the annual subsidiary financial statement process. A large focus is on developing global standardised processes and controls to ensure legal entities are monitored and managed appropriately as well as undertaking numerous and varied Finance related projects.
The team is supported in its activities by a dedicated offshore finance team (GFS). This is a 12 month Maximum term contract.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Co-ordinate dividends assessment and settlement
- Co-ordinate impairment of investment in subsidiaries
- Plan and track subsidiary financial statements
- Prepare information to be audited centrally
- Liaising with external auditors
- Prepare statutory financial reports for specific Australian entities
- Impact assessment of regulatory policy change
- Managing ad-hoc reporting queries
- Team development and staff management
- Ensuring integrity and completeness of financial records and compliance with LEC policies and finance control standards
- Consultation and engagement with key stakeholders
- Rationalisation and deconsolidation of group entities
- LEMIS data control and system replacement
- Involvement in global process improvements for the LEC service line
- Involvement in regular quality reviews and updates of LEC policies and procedures, including LEC financial control standards
About you
To be successful, you will have a risk-minded focus and an excellent understanding of control environments. Your background will be either from a Big 4 Audit firm or a Finance role in banking.
You will also have:
- Willingness to share knowledge to enhance own and others understanding.
- Knowledge of financial markets and experience working in a financial services organisation preferred but not essential
- Confident delivery of information tailored as necessary to meet the needs of the audience.
- Effective management of information flows upwards and downwards.
- Contributes to team motivation through maintaining highest standards.
- Anticipates the needs of others and adapts own behaviour to build stronger relationships.
- Good team player and motivator
- Well organised, self starter able to set and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a virtual global team, and manage cross-border relationships effectively
- Attention to detail and maintenance of highest quality standards.
- Post graduate qualification - CA
- Post qualified experience
- Staff management experience
- Previous experience of legal entity control in a large group environment an advantage
- Experience with project delivery
