Financial Controller

My client is a prestigious law firm based in the West End.  They provide a wide range of services to corporate and private clients and turnover circa £30 mn per year.  The finance function is well regarded in the firm and there is a strong relationship between the finance team and the business.  The role of financial controller has arisen to replace the incumbent and will initially be appointed on an interim basis but then may convert to a permanent role.  

The role reports directly into the financial director and oversees a finance team of eight.  The role will oversee the responsibility for the planning, managing, operating and controlling of the accounting services for the firm as well as leading projects to enhance the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the team and add value to the firm.  

To be considered for this role you will be a qualified accountant with experience leading a finance function within a law firm or a professional services company.  You will have been responsible for maintaining an effective accounting function including management accounts production, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and analysis.  You will improve financial controls and also the working capital in the business and also over see taxation issues.  You will be an experienced staff manager, able to create high functioning teams and also be an effective business partner able to build strong relationships with the partners and be able to challenge and influence to drive the business forward.
