Financial Controller
A new Financial Controller position has arisen at a mid tier commercial law firm as a result of growth and development. The firm is highly established and has a strong history, however they have adapted well to developments in the legal sector and have a modern approach.
This is a broad role with responsibility for the day to day financial management across the firm, working closely with the CFO to provide direction and leadership to a finance team of 10. The content of this position is really varied giving you the responsibility for analysing and reporting on the firms financial performance, leading budgeting and planning cycles, preparing year end financial statements and managing cash flow. The CFO is looking for someone who can provide insightful information to the management team, manage relationships with key external parties (bank, auditors, HMRC) but also be happy with a hands on element to their role.
In my opinion this position offers someone the opportunity to have a high level of autonomy. It would suit a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) who is likely to either be in a Finance Manager or Financial Controller position at present with a law firm, professional services business or another partnership (LLP). I will be looking for recent financial management experience in one of these sectors and would expect you to have a combination of strong technical skills, team management experience and the ability to present concise and relevant management information to senior stakeholders.
