Financial Controller: Growing Lloyds Insurance Business

I am currently recruiting for a Financial Controller role for a growing Lloyds market insurance business. This client has a £10mn t/o currently but is looking to double that in the next three years via organic growth and acquisitions. They are restructuring the business to support this growth and this has led to a new opportunity for a financial controller, initially on an interim basis but with the potential to be made permanent. 

The FC role will report directly into the Group FD but will essentially be the No 1 in finance role as the Group FD will be heavily involved in investor relations and the strategic growth of the company. This will mean that the successful applicant will be responsible for the financial operations of the business from managing the month end process and delivering quality management reporting through to financial planning, through to overseeing the production of annual statutory accounts, guiding the business through year end and working with the auditors. There is likely to be a small element of staff management initially and this is looking to grow over the duration of the role. Financial processes, controls, reporting and the quality of management information all needs to be drastically improved so this role presents a really good opportunity for someone who likes to drive through change and really bring finance to the forefront of the business.

My client is looking to appoint a qualified accountant into this role with proven experience in creating a high quality finance function. To do this they will need to demonstrate exceptional skills in management accounting, statutory accounting, balance sheet control, budgeting and forecasting and technical projects. Equally importantly are the interpersonal skills, desire to produce a high quality of work, to operate under own initiative and to be a "completer finisher." Whilst it is not essential that the candidates have prior experience of insurance it would be beneficial. Experience of driving through change in an SME would be a distinct advantage.
