With ING’s Banking and Insurance/Investment Management businesses splitting into stand-alone companies, Insurance/IM is currently setting up international headquarters in Amsterdam. ING’s Insurance and Investment Management business currently employs over 30,000 employees and operates in around 30 countries with leading positions in insurance, retirement planning and investment management in both mature and developing markets. Next step will be to prepare for a Europe-led IPO with strong growth positions in developing markets and a US-focused IPO; while continuing to seek new ways to give our customers more control over their financial life.

Your department and challenge
For the Market Consistent Methodology team we currently look specifically for several candidates to strengthen the team. Key responsibilities of the MC methodology team are the development of financial pricing models and calibration techniques. The team also plays an important role as an expert on hedge programs and by supporting the DCRO with the product approval of equity-linked guarantee products.
Typical tasks that a Financial Engineer in this team is involved in are:
- Development of our internal economic scenarios generator, working closely with a programmer on developing code, but also working with business units who will use the tool.
- Working on methods to reduce variance of Monte Carlo simulation of liability valuation.
- Developing and analyzing of stochastic financial models to be used for market consistent valuation
- Development of calibration techniques for stochastic volatility and credit spread models
- Framework of application of liquidity premium in stochastic modelling
- Development of market data methodology (e.g. extrapolation techniques)
Who we are looking for
- Highly analytic person with a Master’s degree in economics, econometrics, actuarial or a related field.
- “Builders” who like to develop and take initiative to lead changes across department.
- Knowledge of Financial markets and Financial instruments
- Knowledge of stochastic modelling within Financial Markets (e.g. stochastic volatility, interest rate model, Monte Carlo simulation)
- Affinity with programming and IT tools, knowledge on C++ is a plus
- Strong ability to look beyond the figures and dig deep to understand the numbers.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
What we have to offer you
This is a position for 40 hours per week (alternative hours can be discussed) and is available immediately. The job grade is 10-13, depending on experience. Location is Amsterdam at the ING Insurance headquarters at ING House.
