Financial institutions reporter – fixed income newswire recruitment
Debtwire, a division of the Financial Times Group, is looking for a real-time reporter to write market-leading intelligence on Western European financial institutions. Debtwire reports actionable intelligence for the fixed income markets. Based in London, the candidate will work on a real-time news desk. Reporters will be required to make contact with fund managers, sellside analysts and heads of banks to write detailed articles regarding balance sheet analysis and debt price movements of financial institutions.
Candidates will need to be comfortable writing short articles and longer analytical pieces to combine pertinent comment from the wider investor and analyst community. The role features an element of financial statement analysis and understanding the implications of regulatory change. We are looking for a driven candidate with a desire to become a leading market commentator in their field of expertise and take full responsibility for Debtwire Europe’s financial institutions coverage.
Full training will be given but candidates will be expected to demonstrate the following skills:
- Excellent writing and analytical skills and a full understanding of the capital markets;
- Aspirations to break news and deliver actionable intelligence regarding financial institutions to broader capital markets professionals;
- A demonstrable understanding of the key features of bank debt instruments and capital ratios;
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
Candidates with the following experience will be among those considered:
- Graduates with work or study experience in financial modelling, financial statement analysis or capital markets research specifically relating to banks and financial institutions;
- Journalists with financial institution reporting experience;
- Junior analysts with working knowledge of the financial sector;
- Market participants with applicable experience relating to financial institutions analysis or coverage.
