Financial Instruments Technical Accounting – Assistant Manager / Manager – London recruitment
We are currently looking to appoint experienced Technical Accountants to join our team of Financial Instrument specialists. Our group works across the Corporate Finance, Audit, Consulting and Tax practices providing comprehensive financial services and treasury experience in financial products and markets, risk management, systems, valuation and accounting.
Strong communication and client management skills are key elements to this role as you will be advising senior personnel on a day to day basis, as well as developing a growing team. As an integral member of the group and of the firm, you will provide support both in delivery and business development initiatives.
With the ever changing financial landscape and the upcoming changes to financial instrument accounting being led by the application of IFRS 9, our Banking Capital Markets Treasury team are experiencing steady growth which will ensure you have a range of exciting long-term opportunities.
Our Treasury team is part of the Banking Capital Markets Audit group which provides a range of complimentary services including audit, assurance, regulatory and risk advisory services to major financial services companies and multinational corporates operating in the UK and abroad. We would anticipate successful candidates working closely within our team and the wider Banking Capital Markets and Corporate Audit groups as we continue to service our clients.
As a Technical accountant in our team, you can expect to work on a breadth of the below work:
- Work on complex financial transactions as they relate to the leading financial institutions and corporate clients in assisting these clients in the addressing of day-to-day accounting challenges
- Work on understanding and applying new financial instrument accounting standards as they are drafted and released such that the changing and developing needs of our clients are met
- Work on transactions and due diligence projects as SME
- Financial instrument valuation and modelling (valuation assessments and validation models at major dealing banks and funds, review of hedge accounting models and results)
- Work on projects to implement and embed existing and new IFRS standards, whether it is a full outsourced conversion project, 'on-call' expert technical accounting assistance or IFRS training
To be successful in this role candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- ACA or equivalent
- Educated to Degree, Masters or equivalent in Maths, CFA or Finance
- Experience in Financial Instrument accounting and valuation under either or more than one of the IFRS, UK GAAP or US GAAP
- Proven experience within a large Financial Services Institution or FTSE 100/250 firm, working in a technical accounting, policy or financial instruments advisory function.
- Demonstrable exposure and a detailed knowledge in at least one of the following: hedge accounting, fair value accounting or debt equity consolidation
- Strong client facing skills and experience
