Civil Affairs Specialist

Job Description
Civil Affairs Specialists are the vital link between the Army National Guard, local citizens, and civilian aid organizations during emergencies or other military or humanitarian operations. They help identify and communicate the needs of civilians for situations requiring Guard assistance or support.

As a Civil Affairs Specialist, you would support civil-military operations by researching, coordinating, conducting, and participating in the planning and production of civil affairs related documents. This may require you to plan interagency procedures for national or regional emergencies; coordinate military resources to support reconstitution or reconstruction activities; support national disaster, defense, or emergency response activities; foster and maintain dialogue with civilian aid agencies and civilian relief organizations; and establish mechanisms for emergency coordination and administration where political-economic structures have been incapacitated.

Job training for Civil Affairs Specialists consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of both classroom and field work.
