The Role:
Bloomberg is the leading global provider of financial data, news and analytics. The
BLOOMBERG PROFESSIONAL service and Bloomberg's media services provide real-time and archived financial and market data, pricing, trading, news and communications tools in a single, integrated package to corporations, news organizations, financial and legal professionals and individuals around the world. The Financial Products group is responsible for all core terminal Bloomberg products, data services, and trading systems (Tradebook). This is a high visibility position with extensive access and interaction executive management. Flawless execution in tandem with critical and creative thinking are required attributes for this role.

Responsibilities:
The Financial Products Business Development leader will:

-Evaluate new business opportunities (e.g., acquisitions, partnerships, and internally developed products):
-Determine strategic fit with business objectives and market dynamics.
-Develop and/or manage detailed financial models to estimate potential value of opportunities (e.g., market assessment, sizing forecasts, comparables, total cost of ownership models, PL projections, cash-flow analyses etc).
-Evaluate build/buy/partner/invest scenarios and help articulate business rationale.
-Develop commercial and economic models for new products and/or positioning Bloomberg assets into new business models.
-Conduct pricing analyses and develop new pricing strategies.
-Work with line managers to develop business plans and forecasts for existing and new strategic products/businesses on an ongoing basis and as part of the annual planning process.
-Product development strategy (product / use case definition and opportunity analysis).
-Working closely with RD, sales and business management, lead cross department teams to identify new products, articulate product requirements, and define product strategy as well as integration with existing capabilities.
-Develop strategic rationale for product(s) including business case and build/buy models if necessary.
-Conduct client interviews and manage research firms to help understand granular client needs.
-Partnership development (consortiums, commercial transactions, equity investments).
-Articulate how partnerships align with business strategies and accelerate organic roadmaps; develop deal / JV concepts.
-Develop deal terms, thinking through commercial and governance terms.
-Negotiate with partners and peers both proactively (Bloomberg led JV) and responsively.

Acquisitions:
-Manage due diligence processes for contemplated transactions.
-Assess range of competitive responses, deal structures and impact on opportunity.
-Present cases for investment both within the firm and with prospective partners.
-Help manage the flow of opportunities presented to Bloomberg and developed by business leaders.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Undergraduate degree from a top-tier school, ideally in business.
- MBA in finance from top tier program preferred.

Experience:
-7 to 10 years of professional work experience ideally with some tenure at a top-tier management consulting firm or investment bank. Strong foundation in business strategy required.
-Strong knowledge of business strategy, strategic and business planning, product development, and general business operations.
-Experience as a strategic investor and/or within corporate business development also highly desirable.
-Expertise in both financial services and technology required. Familiarity with business models in brokerage and information services highly valuable.
-Demonstrated ability to define and articulate a product strategy required.
-Experience analyzing deal structure, completing valuations, articulating business strategy and positioning with market dynamics.
-Exposure to MA and joint venture processes required.
