Financial Regulatory Specialist
As a key member of the Finance team this role will act as a subject matter expert on all current UK and US regulatory requirements, their applications to the financial reporting and accounts, and the business operations in general. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer this is an advisory and operational role with significant scope for development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To ensure that all actual and potential financial regulatory developments that are likely to apply to the business are identified, managed and complied with.
- To act as an advisor to the CFO and management team on regulatory requirements.
- To convert all requirements into clear actions including the production of necessary reports.
- To support the business in ensuring that all finance procedures and processes are compliant with all applicable regulations.
- To maintain and apply up to date and detailed knowledge of current UK regulations relating to CASS and Pillar 1 and US regulations including CFTC requirements with particular emphasis on derivatives and equity structures/financing.
- To advise on and prepare for emerging regulation including CRD IV, COREP, FINREP, CASS changes, EMIR and Dodd Frank.
- To assess and prepare for swap dealing requirements under Dodd Frank including US GAAP accounts, 60 day filing and monthly/quarterly reporting.
- To assess and prepare for the new reporting requirements as a result of CRD IV.
- To develop the policies and procedures required by EMIR to deal with multiple pools and individual segregated accounts.
- To complete preparation for the changing CASS requirements including DVP, custody rules and trust letters.
- To take a pro-active approach to new business initiatives addressing the regulatory implications before trading commences, in particular within equity finance, fixed income, foreign exchange, structured products and metals trading.
- To ensure the integrity of external reporting obligations.
- To ensure that relevant documentation is reviewed and updated as appropriate.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Qualified Accountant, with a minimum of 5 years’ post qualification experience, 2 years of which should be in a regulatory accounting role within an international financial services organisation.
- Deep knowledge of UK and US financial regulations
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of converting knowledge of regulations in to practice
- Strong understanding of financial reporting systems – preferably Hyperion
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail and control are essential
- Experience of working within a commercial and fast paced environment
- Excellent communication skills. Able to convey complex issues in a manner appropriate for specific audience and to engage senior business stakeholders on the necessary issues.
