Financial Reporting Accountant Job in Houston, Texas US

Summary

The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for analytical analysis and reporting related to financial performance and non-financial metrics for internal, external and regulatory purposes.

Essential Job Function

• Review financial results as compared to prior period and budget to ensure accuracy of data and to document variance explanations.
• Prepare and distribute monthly variance reports at a departmental level, prepare summarized budget variance reports with explanations.
• Compile data from various sources to generate analysis of the adequacy of the allowance for loan loss based on established methodology.
• Prepare analysis of acquired loan portfolio accounted for pursuant to ASC 310-20 and 310-30 using current cash flow analysis as compared to prior expected cash flows.
• Generate financial statements and related schedules such as cash flow statement, performance ratios, margin analysis, volume/rate analysis and management’s discussion of results.
• Compile data from various sources to generate regulatory reports including capital analysis, liquidity report, Call Report and FR Y-9.
• Prepare financial statements, schedules and footnotes for use in annual audited financial statements.
• Generate financial and analytical reports and presentations for use by management, the board of directors and auditors.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Five years experience in a financial institution with two years  in a financial reporting position
• Bachelors Degree with accounting courses preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Intermediate Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills
• Knowledge of both corporate and regulatory accounting standards and reporting requirements
• Excellent analytical abilities, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of operations and senior management.
