Operational Risk Control (ORC) is an independent function responsible for the implementation of the Operational Risk Framework (ORF) across UBS. To complement the newly Business Division aligned structure, ORC is establishing specialist teams. This role is within one of those specialist teams, the Financial Reporting and Treasury Risk (FRTR) team, which is responsible for ORC oversight of financial reporting and treasury risk and holds the responsibilities of the Group SOX office.
The key responsibilities of the FRTR team are the design of the SOX framework (which leverages the ORF), oversight of implementation of the framework across the Bank, operation of the SOX Committee and of the required SOX attestations by executive management.
As the Group SOX office, the FRTR team needs to ensure the Bank meets the requirements of Sarbanes Oxley (404) and forms an independent view on SOX issues and their remediation status. This role support’s FRTR’s SOX responsibilities by conducting independent testing of key specified SOX relevant controls to confirm they are designed and operating as expected and effectively.
- The successful candidate will work under the supervision of more senior members of the FRTR team. The primary responsibility is to assess the design and operating effectiveness of key financial reporting relevant controls.
The successful candidate will also support other team members with a broader array of Financial Reporting risk activities, such as:
- Independent assessments of a function’s financial reporting risk assessment implementation through the Operational Risk Framework, including the operational risk assessment process being used by management to determine whether all risks have been identified, that risk issues are rated appropriately fully described, with an appropriate action owner and acceptable timelines for mitigation.
- Ensure that the risk inventory represents an accurate view of known financial reporting risks with an impact assessment and the consequences of identified control deficiencies in the front to back environment understood.
- Support the annual SOX 404 assessment for delivery to the SOX 404 Committee and the Group CFO
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with good relationship building and communication skills. The candidate must be delivery orientated, a self-starter and entrepreneurial with control evaluation and testing experience gained in a global organization.
- Bachelors degree or international equivalent
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, CPA or equivalent) or similar (MBA, CFA)
- Previous experience of being an Auditor (either external or internal)
- Previous experience of assessing design and operation of financial reporting controls
- Team player who keeps colleagues informed of developments and works collaboratively
- Highly motivated
- Mature personality with sound judgement
- Flexible, willing and capable of assisting colleagues achieve deadlines and goals
- Enquiring mind with analytical problem solving capability
- Able to identify inherent control risks and assess the adequacy of internal control environments
- Full understanding of professional, ethical and legal standards (including confidentiality) and can maintain these standards while working under pressure.
