Financial Reporting/Assistant Manager – Chelmsford recruitment

An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the MG Group Accounts department as Manager of the Financial Reporting Control team, which has responsibility for the preparation, control and reporting of financial accounting and regulatory information for MG Group. Information is reported to various external internal bodies including Prudential Group Head Office, MG Management, statutory and regulatory bodies, including the FSA.

The candidate should have a strong interest in working in a financial reporting environment and should be qualified and ideally with experience of working within a finance department in the Financial Services sector.

Main duties responsibilities:

- Production of the semi annual MG Group reporting consolidation under IFRS for submission to Prudential Group Head Office
- Responsible for the preparation of UK GAAP annual statutory accounts for various entities within the MG Group and liaising with external Auditors and Company Officers
- Responsible for the consolidated MG regulatory reporting to the FSA and GHO
- Responsible for maintenance of accounting records for various non regulated Group companies including the MG Group Pension Scheme.
- Team management - responsibility for the management and development of three team members and temporary resources as appropriate.
- Review and development of processes and procedures to accommodate business changes.
- Ad hoc departmental tasks.

Candidate profile:

- Qualified accountant (or qualified by experience), plus post qualified experience, ideally with financial reporting experience in the Financial Services sector.
- Strong team management skills
- Proactive and challenging approach, with the ability to understand the business and to identify and solve problems.
- Good organiser with the ability to work accurately under pressure and to tight deadlines as well as the tenacity to finish a task.
- Enthusiastic and flexible approach to work, taking pride in producing work to a high standard and the ability to work in a changing environment, showing initiative and drive
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good team player.

Salary dependent on qualifications and experience.
