Financial Services Senior Manager – Data Analytics recruitment

Working within KPMG's Financial Services Data Insight team this new role involves a varied combination of technical skills, client contact, business development and project management. The FS Data Insight Services team sits within KPMG Risk Compliance function and is a facility that brings together analytics specialists, hardware and software to provide a unique facility that allows customers to commission one-off pieces of analytics work, proofs of concept or ongoing data oriented managed services. It represents a critical component to KPMG's growth strategy and is where much of the innovative early thinking takes place on fraud detection and other data driven projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will have the opportunity to play a key role in the growth and strategy of the group.

You will achieve this by:

- Developing business development initiatives, creating demand, converting sales, engagement delivery and knowledge management, achieving a sales target of £1M.
- Building deep and long lasting client relationships to enhance the reputation of KPMG as advisor of choice and generate ongoing revenues.
- Managing multi-disciplinary teams of KPMG, client and 3rd party professionals on client engagements and providing leadership and shape delivery approach, achieving a delivery target of £1M.
- Providing advisory services across the data management spectrum that includes Data Governance, Data Quality Standards, Data Integration and Master Data Management.
- Coaching team members to ensure excellent client delivery whilst also enabling their career development.
- Acting as a subject matter expert in advising clients to maximise benefits while reducing risks.
- Use your technical expertise, knowledge and experience, provide thought leadership to further develop and promote the core Data Insight Services propositions.
- Take a significant role in the growth of the team and wider practice, sharing knowledge and supporting the development of other team members.

Qualifications and Skills

A degree-equivalent level in either a numerate subject (eg Statistics or Operations Research) or Information Technology.

Experience and Background

We expect all of our Senior Managers to have the following attributes:

- Strong drive and resilience to overcome challenges or setbacks to achieve your team/project/client goals.
- Extensive industry experience, with particular focus on the financial services sector, with the ability to take client aspirations and ideas and support them in turning them into a practical reality.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate the following technical skills:

- Proven data extraction, analysis, cleansing, quality and manipulation skills
- Significant experience in data analysis and manipulation with any of the following software: SQL (esp. SQL Server), SAS, dnDirector, DataFlux.
- Experience of handling very large data volumes (incl. efficiency and scalability concepts)

Experience with some of the following would be advantageous:

- detailed data reconciliation or complex querying or business reporting
- data linking / fuzzy matching techniques
- experience of the entire systems life-cycle: design, build test o relational and/or dimensional data modelling / data warehousing
- knowledge of statistical techniques and analysis (such as regression, clustering, sampling, social network analysis)
- DW, OLAP or data mining or ERP systems knowledge (esp. SAP, JDEdwards or Oracle Financials). any accounting (especially audit) experience
