Financial Software Engineering Manager; Core Java, Server Side Mission Critical Environments

Seeking a motivated hands on server side, core Java Developer to lead an Engineering team focused on delivering innovative software and services to the financial services community. 

Applicants must be creative people with a proven record of excellence in technology to design, deliver and develop innovative, ambitious software.   

This person should be highly energized and ready to join a fast-paced, leader in OMS and services to broker dealers in the United States.

Operating in clients’ mission critical environments requires a Developer obsessed with delivering well tested code.

Excellent technical, communication and writing skills, creativity and teamwork are essential.  

Engineering Manager Responsibilities include:

×           Technical lead: Leading people, projects, and acting as an individual contributor, writing code in Java

×           Hands-on managing an engineering team of 1 software engineer and 1 quality assurance engineer

×           Managing IT infrastructure

×           Creating project plans, schedules, and status reports to monitor progress of product development

×           Working with cross-functional teams to ensure timelines are being met

Requirements:

Background

×           Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science

×           8+ years of software development experience

×           5 years’ recent experience writing code in server side core Java, including design and architecture

×           2 years’ experience in Linux environment; including strong understanding of commands 

×           Has owned an end product

Technology

×           Complete understanding of and fully conversant with software development life cycle.

×           5+ years of OOD (design patterns and methodologies) with Java; including strong hands-on development and troubleshooting skills

×           2+ years of technical engineering management

×           Proven track record of shipping well tested enterprise applications (load, performance, etc.)

×           Familiarity with CORBA

×           Familiarity with Database management, specially Oracle and Sybase

×           Familiarity with C++, JavaScript, and DHTML

×           Familiarity with Apache, Ant, CVS, FIX, JBoss would be helpful
