Financial/Real Estate Analyst recruitment

• The Manager of Funds team runs mandates totalling some £250m and expects to grow significantly and rapidly over the next few years as demand for its products and services increases. These mandates are invested mainly in unlisted property funds, with some listed property securities, and the potential for including property derivatives. The existing mandates are focussed on the UK market but, increasingly, new monies will be invested in European and Global markets.

Reflecting the growth in the work now being experienced, a new position has been created within the team to deal with analysis and management of property fund investments, and research.

Initially, the main priority for the post-holder will be to take over the various fund analysis models and databases. These are proprietary models that assist in fund selection, but are also used for presentational purposes. During this process, it is expected that the post-holder will become familiar with the funds and their management. New models may be required to be developed to assist with due diligence exercises. Besides maintaining these systems, the post-holder will be responsible for assisting with the fund of fund management and for general property research.

Overall, the function of the post is to help optimise portfolio performance and to help in growing the business.

The main duties of the position are as follows:

• To meet and receive presentations from the managers of existing and newly-launched funds and assessing their abilities, analysing and assessing their funds’ portfolios and business plans, understanding the fund structures, and monitoring the market for their units.

• In accordance with the investment strategy determined by the CIO, assist the Portfolio Manager in making initial recommendations as to which funds should be proposed for inclusion and, if accepted in principle, then prepare of the Portfolio Manager recommendation reports which will be presented to UK or Global FofF's investment committee. This may also involve assisting in the co-ordination of the work of legal and/or tax advisors who may be required to review any underlying fund structures or documentation

• Once each proposal has been approved at investment committee, then assist the Portfolio Manager in finalising the terms for any investment, also ensuring that arrangements are put in place for regular and timely manager reporting to the FofF administrators. This should include setting up arrangements to ensure that early warning is in place for any future commitment draw downs which may in future be required

• To prepare, improve, and maintain models and databases of the open-ended (and a number of close-ended) funds, including forecasting.

• To undertake due diligence of newly-launched funds, including inspecting investments.

• To assist with the issue and review of RFP requests.

• To provide recommendations for buying/selling/holding units to the UBS fund manager(s), with whom the post-holder will work closely.

• To understand the functioning of the UK property market and its short-term and long-term performance potential, including the economic backdrop, and to be able to use that information in fund assessments.

• To assist in preparing presentational material and, where appropriate, participating in presentations.

• To assemble data and maintain databases of property and economic data for use in analysis and presentations.
