Under general supervision, performs routine inspection, testing and preventative maintenance of JCI product line, as well as, similar competitive product line inspections. Provides specialized training and direction to less senior inspectors.
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  1. Inspects JCI Building Systems and competitive equipment product lines, fire suppression equipment, emergency lighting equipment, and all other assigned systems.
  2. Instructs other inspectors on the correct way to complete Service Acknowledgments with proper coding through communicative devices, such as laptop computer and/or hardcopy.  Obtains customer signature upon completion of assigned calls.
  3. Trains other less senior inspectors on how to follow and maintain a highly structured inspection schedule.
  4. Trains other less senior inspectors on all JCI Building Systems and competitive equipment product lines, fire suppression equipment, emergency lighting equipment, and all other assigned systems.
  5. Effectively communicates and resolves issues while complying with organizational standards and practices.
  6. Makes minor repairs and programming changes while under authorized supervision.
  7. Responsible for meeting customer expectations while performing quality inspections.
  8. Trains less senior inspectors to / and inputs, retrieves and archives inspection documentation via laptop computer.  Makes minor repairs and programming changes while under direct, authorized supervision.
  9. Presents and sells additional Preventative Maintenance services, equipment, peripheral devices, and provides sales leads where appropriate.
  10. Trains less senior inspectors to / and properly completes all reports, such as, mileage and monthly vehicle reports, as well as, the maintaining of adequate inventory levels within assigned inspection vehicles in like new condition.
  11. Perform other duties as directed.
  12. Carries and moves equipment and tools weighing up to 40 pounds.  Works in unusual and sometimes difficult positions such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces above ceilings, etc. 
  13.  Adheres to and follows safety guidelines and policies at all times.

High school diploma required.  Electronics certification from an accredited technical school desired.  Two years of directly related experience servicing Johnson Controls or industry related equipment is required, preferably with one year as a Johnson Controls Fire Inspector.  Nicet Level I certification is preferred.  Must be proficient in the use of personal computers to include Windows, test equipment (i.e. multimeters, battery analyzers, frequency meters, decibel meters, fire suppression equipment and emergency lighting units) and communicating devices.  Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements.  Demonstrated ability to train others, excellent communications skills, and uses tact and diplomacy when dealing with customers.  Must obtain and retain any licenses that are required by National, State and local codes.
