Firewall Administrator Job in Washington, District Of Columbia Us

Description of Duties: 

·         Duties are performed in a 24/7/365 environment

·         performs onsite Tier 2 technical support and troubleshooting of firewall and content filtering systems to include firewall rule sets, ports, any database modification requests and reports of objectionable content availability

·         support and troubleshooting  networking problems and outages affecting DoS connectivity.

·         monitor, track, and update Remedy tickets as necessary in order to maintain current status for all incidents/problems; escalate incidents/problems to Tier 3 Exchange engineers; assist FW engineers in root cause analysis.

·         monitor and manage MacAfee Control Center and NAGIOS for device alerts (Stonegate and Sidewinder Firewalls) and clusters to include active connections, performance, logging activity, disk space, suspicious log activity, anomalies, and cluster load balance

·         Process and implement IP blocks requested by the CIRT team and make the appropriate changes on all applicable firewalls.

·         Modify and configure rule bases as requested by and approved by the Firewall Advisory Board in conjunction with the Firewall Engineering group

·         Monitor and status reports for all firewall logs to include verification of continuous logging of all firewalls to appropriate servers on an hourly basis.

·         provide input into IRM/MSO/EML/NCC FW SOPs

·         Verify all log servers maintain sufficient amount of disk space and logs are successfully transferred to long-term storage.

·         Complete daily reports (Shift Log and Hot Issues Report) for the shift’s activities

 

Education and Experience Requirements:  

5 years of progressive technical experience and a Bachelor’s degree in information technology field or

7 years of related technical experience and MSCA/MCP/MSCE/CCSP/CCNA/Comptia Network+/Security+/ITIL V3 certification(s) or

10 years of related technical experience with no degree.

Current experience with the following technology/applications is highly desired: Bluecoat, StoneGate, SIDEWINDER, MacAfee Control Center

Clearance Requirements:  
Candidate must be a US Citizen and must possess and maintain an active US Government security clearance.

Location:
Washington, DC.  Relocation assistance is not provided.
