Firmware Designer ( FT/PERM)
- Will design and develop real-time embedded firmware for integrated products on DSP and microcontroller platforms for audio processing. To develop innovative solutions and be responsible for verification, testing and support for manufacturing production test.
- Responsibilities:
- Will be totally responsible for the design, implementation, bench-level verification and documentation of new firmware, using a structured code development process.
- Converting programs developed in languages like Matlab to DSP based firmware.
- Defining the development plans, including creating design documentation, test plans and validating strategy for the firmware.
- Collaborate with other technical groups to define hardware and software interfaces.
- Participate in the planning and design to achieve the objectives of the project.
- Prepare and support documents including requirements documents, analysis specifications, designs, test reports and manufacturing documents.
- Carry out various engineering assignments requiring familiarity and the principals of real-time systems.
- Solve problems by suing a combination of standard procedure as well as developing new innovative solutions.
- Carry out and support the testing, verification, integration and manufacturing activities.
Work Experience:
- Skilled with 7 years experience or more in developing firmware code using C or assembly languages.
- Experience in real-time applications on lower power platforms specifically related to audio signal processing.
- Experience using development tools for firmware design, development and debugging specifically on the T1 range of devices.
- Knowledge of analog audio circuits and signal processing in analog domain.
- Knowledge of higher languages like Matlab
- Must have strong knowledge of structured code development methods and debug techniques used in engineering products
- Hardware experience is a definite asset.
- Knowledge of and experience using typical lab equipment such as logic analyzers, bus analyzers, debuggers and scopes is required.
