Fixed Income Business Analyst recruitment
Overview
This role is to work within the Fixed Income Investment Stream of the IPP.
We are looking for a Technical Business Analyst with experience of working directly with Fund/Portfolio Managers who will focus on helping us deliver changes to our Decision Support Systems. The role will be asset class specific (Fixed Income), at least at the outset, with day to day task management provided by the asset class I.T. Manager.
This role will exist alongside other asset class specific analysis roles in the Decision Support Systems stream, and although oversight across this stream will be provided, the successful candidate will be expected to consider the wider implications in the work they do, trying to ensure consistency between asset classes where practicable.
Overview of IPP
Schroders are embarking on a large programme of change to upgrade our global portfolio management and data platforms and implement scalable enterprise solutions for OTC derivatives and Investment Risk. This is collectively being referred to as the Investment Platform Programme, IPP.
We are looking for an Investment Technical Business Analyst to supplement our existing capabilities in the fixed income steam of the project.
Key duties
Provide business analysis support to ensure effective delivery (as measured by time, cost and quality) of agreed projects, covering activities such as:
- Impact assessment of changes.
- Analysis and documentation of requirements.
- Identification and analysis of solutions.
- Design of the implementation of process and organisational changes.
- Testing of development performed within the team.
Develop effective relationships across the business, IT and the larger Programme Community.
Interpret business requirements into system requirements.
Where appropriate, act as a bridge between the less technical BAs and the Developers/Technical resource to ensure correct implementation of requirements.

Essential Skills
Understanding of the Asset Management industry.
Understanding of fixed income securities and the investment approach.
Technical knowledge of writing SQL queries and reading stored procedures and SSIS packages. No development or programming will be expected.
Experience in a business analysis role essential including business process change and technology change experience
Experienced of requirements elicitation through direct interaction with business users and their processes (Interviews, observation and workshops),
Experience of working with senior business users.
Logical, structured thought processes and good problem solving skills.
Good relationship management skills - able to engage with and gain confidence of others and maximise their contribution to the process.
Strong communication skills - written, pictorial, presentational and verbal at all levels within the organisation.
Able to demonstrate initiative.
Able to work well in a team.
Focus on quality.
Desirable Skills
Where relevant, support the Project Managers or IT Managers to develop plans to deliver solutions or changes to the business.
Experience of operational process change is preferred.
Contribute to the BA community and the development and deployment of analysis best practice, tools and methods.
Experience and knowledge of derivatives is an advantage.
Experience of an Order Management System, such as Charles River, an advantage.
Experience of working on large programmes of change an advantage.
