Fixed Income Lawyer
Jefferies is looking to hire a circa 7-9 year PQE lawyer with sales and trading experience with a primary focus on the fixed income OTC environment. The candidate should have the initiative and flexibility to support other sales and trading divisions of Jefferies including equities and futures as and when required. The candidate will report to Batoolah Dawreeawoo, MD, Head of Sales and Trading, Legal.
This is an exciting opportunity to join an established and growing business and the ideal candidate will have experience with legal advisory work in the following sales and trading areas:
- Derivatives (across various asset classes) including an understanding of ISDA documentation;
- Structured products and origination including debt capital markets;
- ABS/MBS securitisations (both origination and secondary market);
- LMA/LSTA loans;
- High yield and distressed debt (European credit);
- Emerging markets;
- Eurorates;
- Repo and structured repo transactions including and understanding of GMRA documentation;
- Fixed income stock lending including an understanding of GMSLA;
- An understanding of the impacting legislation for Jefferies and specifically in relation to the sales and trading environment including EMIR, Dodd Frank, MIFID II etc.,
In addition, the candidate should:
- be confident in providing immediate support and advice to the business;
- be commercially savvy with the ability to explain legal issues efficiently;
- have sound drafting skills and the ability to work quickly on a number of different tasks;
- preferably have a working knowledge of the interfaces between the various risk, credit, operations and treasury departments within a financial institution;
- be efficient at managing a varied workload for a number of different stakeholders; and
- have experience of dealing with senior business managers.
