Fixed Income Portfolio Specialist recruitment

Position Description:

Wellington Management is one of the world's premier investment management organisations. We are a global, privately owned firm that is 100% focused on managing money for institutional investors and mutual fund sponsors. We are headquartered in Boston with ten affiliate offices in the United States and around the world.

We have a diversified, balanced, and growing business. Our clients are based in over 40 countries - more than one third of them are domiciled outside the US - and in total they have entrusted us to manage in excess of US$650 billion of their assets. On their behalf we manage portfolios focusing on equity, fixed income, currencies, commodities, real assets, and active asset allocation, including hedge fund portfolios.

The Fixed Income Product Management group is an integral part of our large and growing fixed income business. Fixed Income Product Management is involved in all phases of the product lifecycle, including developing and marketing new investment strategies, ensuring the integrity and sustainability of existing investment strategies, and adapting investment strategies as appropriate to meet evolving client needs. Key areas of focus include:
• Investment Integrity - working closely with investment teams to define, implement and enhance investment processes;
• Business Management - working with investors, relationship managers and business developers to assist in growing, retaining and diversifying the firm's fixed income assets;
• Portfolio Representation - acting as investment representatives of Wellington Management and its portfolios to clients, prospects, consultants and internal colleagues.

As part of continued expansion, we are seeking to recruit a Fixed Income Portfolio Specialist to join the existing group. This role requires demonstrated skills in portfolio and market analysis, combined with a solid foundation in, and passion for, investing. This position will be focused on our global fixed income approaches. While the position could be based in London or Boston in the short term, we seek candidates who are willing and able to be based in London longer term.

Responsibilities will include:

• Fee analysis, product development and product positioning;
• Definition and maintenance of appropriate performance composites;
• Project work, such as research for white papers and publications;
• Participation, as appropriate, in meetings with clients, prospects and consultants.

Qualifications:

Working in this role requires a high degree of demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, strong fixed income knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and enthusiasm. The successful candidate will be a hard working, self-starter, eager to learn more about the fixed income investment business. He/she must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where priorities change frequently and deadlines are crucial.
