Fixed Income Specialist
Seeking a Fixed Income Specialist to manage 20-25 accounts, dependent upon their complexity, and their strategies. This person will process the daily accounting function for institutional fixed income accounts as well as monthly cash and asset reconciliations. All work should be completed timely and accurately and reflect a solid understanding of the company’s guidelines. It is expected that the Specialist will proactively participate in the enhancement of workflows and processes to support greater efficiency.
About the Job:
- Ensure the integrity of all portfolio accounting data
- Demonstrate knowledge in Fixed Income and derivative securities and their relevant transaction postings on the asset manager’s books
- Reconcile daily cash balances resolve failing trades as well as monthly cash and position data
- Communicate with brokers and custodians
- Working knowledge of different securities (ABS, MBS, Corporates, Treasuries, short-term investments, Futures, and interest rate swaps)
- Research and document TMPG claims
- Research and resolve reconciliation exceptions
- Communicate cash flow activity to Investor Services team
- Overdraft monitoring and resolution
- Independently researches discrepancies
- Maintain balances rates of short-term funds
About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Economics, Finance or Accounting
- 1-3 years of relevant experience working with fixed income products preferably in Asset Management
- Proficient in MS Excel, with an ability to learn new systems
- Highly organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Strong quantitative/analytical skills
- Strong written communication skills; ability to communicate internally (upper management, Portfolio Manager’s or compliance) and externally (custodians brokers)
- Experience with TLM Smartstream and Eagle Star a plus
Professional Chemistry
- Understand monthly reconciliation standards
- Understand trade settlement process for all securities
- Understand corporate actions, dividends, reclaims, accruals, paydowns, principal income, FX’s
- Understand collateral management
- Understand tri-party relationship between the company and custodian/prime broker
- Understand prime broker relationship
- Understand and process and short term investments
- Understanding of 5% rule
