Fleet Manager Job in Grand Rapids, Michigan US
Currently accepting resumes for the position of Fleet Manager for a Grand Rapids based Third Party Logistics Company. This position is responsible for managing a company owned fleet of short haul and shuttle/switch positions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Observes personnel performing duties and studies operations reports on revenues derived, costs of operation, accidents, and frequency of claims for losses or damages, to determine changes in work practices and procedures necessary to improve operations and reduce claims.
- Initiates requisitions for corrective actions
- Enforces worker compliance with established safety rules and regulations and measures to protect safety of employees and customers and security of freight, property, and equipment.
- Develops policies, programs, and procedures for efficient operations.
- Conducts continuous analysis of vehicle and drivers assignments and analyzes scheduling for possible consolidation, reviews and revises driver schedules to increase efficiency and to lower costs.
- Directs operation; reviews procedures; provides guidance to resolve problems; analyzes costs and recommends cost control measures; and develops plans, policies, and budgets.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages three subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 60 drivers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises on non-supervisory employee. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
