Job Purpose:

Supports manufacturing operations by specifying ingredients; recommending process technologies.

 

Duties:

·         Develops ingredients by studying consumer requirements; preparing formulations; conducting sensory or chemical analyses; conducting product shelf-life tests; participating in off-site research.

·         Recommends supply specifications by studying consumer requirements and manufacturing capabilities; determining cost/benefit relationships; conferring with management, operations, engineering, or technical staff.

·         Recommends food manufacturing and blending processes, systems, and technologies by evaluating current, new, or improved processes or process aids, systems, and technologies; analyzing problems resulting from existing approaches and techniques; designing experiments; collecting samples and preparing products for testing; scheduling trial runs; evaluating test results.

·         Implements manufacturing processes by preparing specifications; monitoring ingredient scale-up in manufacturing; monitoring plant production.

·         Documents actions by maintaining scientific logs; compiling technical journals.

·         Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends; writing technical reports.

·         Protects assets by maintaining confidentiality.

·         Maintains kosher status for products by maintaining liaison with kosher overseers; coordinating operational needs with overseers.

·         Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.

·         Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, and good manufacturing practices.

·         Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.

·         Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
