Job Summary:
Coordinates and supervises all cafeteria and kitchen operations to include: patient tray assembly and distribution, sanitation, food production, and ordering. Performs sanitation, safety, quality and security checks to ensure that Department standards are upheld. Interviews, orients, trains, evaluates, coaches, counsels and recommends salary increases. In the absence of higher management, monitors and supervises all food service areas.
 
Job Responsibilities:
Ensures Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines are followed at all times in food handling. Conducts food storage inspections as assigned and follows-up with staff on any deficiencies. Conducts sanitation/safety inspections as assigned and follows-up with staff on any deficiencies. Coordinates the scheduling of staff and manages replacements of staff as necessary. Meets established patient satisfaction goals. Meets established department financial goals. Orders change, counts daily cafeteria receipts and prepares and delivers bank deposits. May be assigned to stock, serve, replenish foods in cafeteria, tray line or catering areas.
 
Education:
High school graduation or equivalent is required. Formal training in supervision and food service management is preferred.

Required Experience:
Prior food service experience is required. Previous food service supervisory experience is necessary (formal supervisory and food service management training will be considered).
 
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Certified Dietary Manager credential desirable.
 
Complexity of Work:
Ability to coordinate the activities of the department to meet established deadlines and multi-task in an atmosphere of frequent interruptions.
 
Knowledge:
Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently. Must have sufficient mathematical ability to keep records and prepare reports. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel applications.
 
Physical Requirements:
Requires continuous standing and/or walking, frequent lifting and transferring of supplies, pans, and trays weighing 20-50 pounds and pushing of heavy, loaded carts.
