Forensic Chemist - Afghanistan

BAE Systems Joint Expeditionary Forensics Facilities (JEFF) Program is in need of experienced Forensic Explosives/Drug Chemists who are motivated to be part of our dynamic team. Selected candidates will be mission-oriented and committed to supporting the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory (USACIL) and its ExpeditionaryForensic Laboratories in Afghanistan. Technical responsibilities include performing chemical analysis and identifying trace samples; differentiating trace explosive and/or drug signatures from contamination and background; complying with established protocols related to sample preparation and analysis; preparing extractions; performing explosive and/or drug analysis using ion analysis or GC/MS, FTIR spectrometry; interpretation of mass spectra; utilizing problem-solving skills to deal with issues associated with technical and associated environmental issues; conducting research involving new methods of analysis as applicable; incorporating the principles of quality assurance; compiling statistical data on laboratory tests and activities; maintaining laboratory equipment through daily maintenance and troubleshooting as required; responding orally and in writing to requests for information; preparing forensic reports; providing instruction and tours; and other duties as required. Individuals must be able to effectively prioritize and execute multiple requests and taskings in order to handle a very high volume of work. In addition to the technical skills above, additional attributes are a must: innovativeness, self-motivation, professionalism, and flexibility suitable for an expeditionary environment. Required Skills: -Must be US Citenship - Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with a major in Natural Science, Criminalistics, Toxicology, Biology, Chemistry or a closely related field; including a minimum of 24 semester hours of chemistry or analytical chemistry (graduate or undergraduate college level). - Minimum of 4 years of related experience. - Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. - Willingness to deploy to Afghanistan for at least 1 year. - Meet contractual requirements associated with the minimal standards of fitness for deployment.
