The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Foundation seeks a highly motivated individual to perform a full range of activities that are required to prepare, submit and manage a portfolio of grants proposals to foundation and corporate donors.  Reporting to the Deputy Director for Advancement, this position will plan, organize, and implement a strategy to maximize awards from local, regional, and national corporations, foundations, and government sources in order to support the programs, exhibits, collections and capital projects of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. This position will research and identify funding sources; work with key staff to identify projects that will advance institutional priorities; lead project planning and implementation teams; interpret, communicate and manage funding requirements and timelines; and produce compelling grant proposals and other written documents. Additionally, this position will actively build and manage relationships with donors through a variety of cultivation strategies. 

The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree from an accredited college and 3-5 years of grant writing experience with proven track record of success. He/she will be detail-oriented, organized, deadline and goal driven with superior research, writing and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also demonstrate the able to work independently and collaboratively with others. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (specifically, Word, Excel and Outlook) is required.  Experience with Raisers’ Edge preferred.  The successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.
