The Finance function of Tata Steel Europe is in the process of implementing a new structure, which is aligned with and can effectively support the new company operating model. This includes delivering a world-class accounting, operational and analytical reporting service to UK and European business areas from a centralised department in Port Talbot. As a result, new vacancies have been created within this Accounting and Transactions Centre of Excellence (ATCE).

There is a current vacancy for a French Speaking Assistant Accountant to join their general ledger team on a permanent basis.

1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Provision of fixed asset and general ledger accounting services to UK or European businesses, ensuring best financial practice is adhered to.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assist in the provision of fixed asset and general ledger accounting services to specific UK and European businesses in line with required KPIs and service levels.

Ensure financial information is provided on a timely basis to allow sufficient time for review by business partners and project leaders whilst maintaining full compliance with reporting deadlines set by Group Reporting and Control.

Ensure all accounting activities undertaken are in compliance with Tata Steel group accounting policies.

Ensure all accounting activities are performed in accordance with defined internal control procedures.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with nominated internal and external customers to facilitate achievement of service levels and KPIs.

Support general ledger section manager in identifying any problem issues within General Ledger accounts for specific businesses and ensure appropriate and timely escalation to facilitate prompt resolution.

Act as member of General Ledger team
Liaise with specified Business Partners and Group Reporting Control

Demonstrates solid knowledge and ability. May require guidance to handle new or more complex situations.
