Immediate long term need in Bristol, CT for a Web Developer.
Assists the Digital Technology team with the development and maintenance of high-performance REST-based APIs for use across multiple platforms and products. Participates in the creation of efficient, reusable, and scalable templates using web technologies such as Tea, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, etc that are used for dynamic web publishing and the display of dynamic, automated database content. Provides general technical support and troubleshooting. Collaborates and coordinates projects between software engineering, product management, and external partners. Develops interfaces to content management systems. Produces consumer-facing and internal-facing documentation pertaining to the ESPN API platform. Assists in the technical analysis and evaluation of new technologies, products, and product enhancements. Identifies areas for product improvement, adding features and functionalities where appropriate to augment the fan experience. Leads the development of assigned projects and tasks.
Expert level HTML hand-coding skills; can hand-write JavaScript, CSS, DHTML. May possess additional coding skills such as Perl, Flash ActionScript, XML, LINGO, ASP, JSP, ColdFusion, etc. Has experience using content management systems.
Minimum of 2 years hands-on Web development experience in a professional environment.
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming.
Minimum of 2 years of experience working with a structured programming language (Java, C/C++, ASP, JSP, PHP, etc.).
Good understanding of benefits and constraints of current Internet technologies and strong familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash, and DHTML.
Minimum of 2 years of experience writing technical specs and driving them through development.
Minimum of 2 years developing JSON and XML data schemas and working with XSDs.
Demonstrated ability to work on diverse projects simultaneously, requiring detailed analysis, creative/practical problem solving, and sound judgment.
Ability to self-motivate while operating effectively in a team-oriented and collaborative environment.
