Front Office Java Developer – 12 Month Contract – Morgan Stanley – Java, Unix, Sybase, SQL
Position Description
The role will require working with operations, controllers and front office to capture, understand and deliver solutions in a timely manner. The individual will have to be able to take ownership of problems, manage changing priorities and communicate with demanding stakeholders. There will also be opportunity to work on the development of a green field project to re-architect and implement a new global real time event based solution to replace the current calculation engine and dependencies. This is anticipated to be a multi year and multi disciplined project.
We are looking for an experienced individual who has worked in a similar environment as part of a globally distributed team.

- Full software development lifecycle understanding
- Appreciation of Agile software development
- Good software development practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The candidate must be flexible and able to respond to a dynamic business environment and should have a keen interest to learn the business supported by the applications.
Technical Skills/Experience
- Java J2SE, Spring, JUnit, JMS
- SQL - Sybase and/or DB2
- Unix/Linux as a user and basic scripting
- Perl 1.5
