We are working with a Market Leading Global Trading Organisation that is renowned for utilising the latest technology, creating innovative solutions and attracting / rewarding the best technologists the markets have to offer. They have been consistently growing their Sydney operations organically with exceptional retention rates over the last few years and now, again, due to more growth they are looking for another talented Java Software Engineer to join their Sydney Team.
Role Description:
This is the opportunity to work in a desk aligned role working on front office trading applications and exchange connectivity components. You will work on highly business critical projects with short life cycles. You will share the desk with the traders and be responsible for the quick creation of sophisticated solutions that afford the firm a competitive edge. You will combine best practice development techniques, design patterns and start of the art architecture to create innovative solutions that are local market specific.
The environment for this role is predominantly core server java on Linux boxes but due to the nature of the role you will also touch on XML feeds, Perl Scripts, SQL back-ends.
Role Requirements:
- Extensive Java Development Skills - with an emphasis on low-level, performance/latency sensitive programming
- Sound software design skills, knowledge of Object Orientated Methodologies and use of Design patterns.
- Strong understanding of the SDLC in highly complex environments
- Good working knowledge of SQL
- Passion for software excellence with a focus on producing highly performant solutions
- Software prototyping skills
- Ability to work in Regional / Global teams
- Understanding / Interest in the Financial Markets Trading Technology Arena
