Front Office Risk Analyst – Commodities recruitment
My client is looking for an exceptional individual with strong academics and experience in commodities (power/gas/coal etc) to sit on their trading desk. You will help to identify and analyse key risk issues pertaining to the major desks and support the front office in developing proposals for new business activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the trading teams and learn about the strategies involved.
Responsibilities include:
- Daily interaction with trading desk to facilitate analysis of key trading strategies
- Articulate analysis and identify risk issues
- Evaluation of risk embedded in new business transactions
- Generate and articulate intelligent analysis of risk embedded in new and existing transactions
- Support trading and origination teams in developing proposals for new business activities
- Support the co-ordination of new business
- Evaluate risk issues within trading activities across energy complex.
- Ongoing and ad-hoc analysis of price, position and risk information in support of Front Office Risk team.
- Generate and articulate intelligent analysis of risk embedded in new and existing transactions.
Skills required:
- Experience in risk management including quantitative analysis responsibilities within an investment bank or energy trading company
- Experience of interacting directly with traders and working in a front office trading environment
- Knowledge of energy commodities, power market knowledge is desirable
- May suit candidates from a market risk, product control or trading analyst background
- Strong Excel, VBA and Access skills essential
- Proficient in other MS Office products
- Knowledge of energy price risk management desirable
