Fund Accounting Operational Controls Manager — Officer / AVP (Based in Bournemouth) recruitment
Product Specific: Asset Servicing / Fund Accounting forms part of the WSS group within the Treasury and Securities Services division. This area continues to experience huge volume growth and new business demands and is now supported by Global operating hubs in Sydney, Manila, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Bangalore, Luxembourg, London, Edinburgh, Bournemouth, Dublin and North America. The group services both institutional and retail clients across the regions managing a complex product offering.
Purpose of Role: The role will focus on the ongoing assessment and enhancement of the Asset Servicing and Fund Accounting operation. The successful candidate will be expected to proactively identify and close operational control gaps and areas of risk through the development and implementation of core Operational Controls. The successful candidate will also be required to test compliance of these controls, through the execution of a formal Quality Assurance testing programme.
This role will report into the FA OCM lead within Bournemouth FA, however will also have a functional reporting line into the FA site head in Bournemouth.
Key responsibilities:
• Primary focus will be to support and enhance the control environment within the Asset Servicing / FA function however participation and support of the wider WSS EMEA OCM team will also be required.
• Support FA business function by conducting end to end risk and control assessment processes including QA testing and execution of Controls Self Assessment.
• Partner with the business in the design and implementation of control enhancements.
• Work with senior Ops management to investigate errors and identify recommended solutions.
• Assist in the compilation of daily, weekly and monthly senior management MIS and executive reports
• Conduct high quality deep dive control reviews.
• Review New Business product implementations and change events and assist in the identification and closure of risks and gaps.
• Assist in audit and client control activities.
• Present to Clients on risk and control process.
• Assist in the development of high quality control training materials and assist in class room based training sessions
• Critically review management MIS and advise on ongoing enhancements to ensure management are aware of key risk themes and related actions.
• Partner with other OCM teams across GFS and WSS Operations to establish and implement core best practice standards.
Core Competencies:
- Subject matter expertise in operational risk and controls; working knowledge of relevant regulations and standard industry processes
- Well developed knowledge of Asset Servicing and / or Fund Accounting.
- Build effective relationships across a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Demonstrate the ability to initiate and manage change through influence and persuasion.
- Strong analytical and critical information skills and the ability to apply problem solving skills with practical execution
- Highly numerate with the ability to analyse data, evaluate detail and draw appropriate conclusions
- Proven process review and project management skills.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills .
- Operational experience would be an advantage as the ability to implement simple, yet effective and sustainable control solutions is essential.
- Previous experience liaising with External auditors, Internal Auditors and clients would be preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and the ability to challenge and improve current processes and operating environment
