The Role
You will be responsible for the running of the Fund Accounting Product Control team. Your team maintains the books and records of different funds, (OEICs, Investment Trusts and other closed end companies; Authorised Unit Trusts; money funds; life company funds; and benchmark specific unitised funds), completing the daily sign off for all onshore funds and ensuring that the various product groups achieve their accounting requirements. Your responsibilities include:
- Team management including appraisals, staff development and recruitment, including motivational and career development aspects
- You will also be involved in the team's regulatory reporting requirements, supporting of new project initiatives and also the effective management of ad hoc queries.
- Effective stakeholder management and ability to communicate at all levels
- Overall responsibility for the whole nav sign off function and daily valuations
- Review of the control environment, ensuring that department's output meets expected quality and is operating in an effective and efficient manner
- Keeping abreast of industry developments and regulatory changes and feeding this through to the team will be an integral part of the role
- Effective management of derivative accounting adjustments and effective yield accounting across the relevant product groups
- Ensuring compliance with current regulatory requirements and ability to quickly assess the feasibility of accounting for new instruments
- Development of departmental processes to enhance quality and mitigate risks
- Ensuring that direct reports are conversant with all new regulatory requirements and current internal initiatives and directives.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following requirements:
- You are a Qualified accountant or qualified through experience,
- You have previous fund accounting experience essential
- You have proven people management skills are essential (preferably in the management of a large team).
- You have excellent verbal and written communication
- You have a can do attitude
- You are a strong team player
- You have good analytical skills, accurate and numerate with excellent attention to detail
