Fund Administration Associate recruitment

BlackRock Alternative Advisors (BAA) manages over $30 billion in assets across absolute return, private capital and hybrid strategies for a broadly diversified, global client base. The BAA Business Operations-Fund Administration team is responsible for middle and back-office functions associated with BAA investment products. Middle and back-office functions include, but are not limited to, portfolio management support, product structuring, trade execution, compliance monitoring, fund accounting, client reporting and internal reporting to executive management as well as tax and audit support.

Within the BAA Business Operations--Fund Administration team is a group focused on the operations, administration, and reporting of closed-end investment funds. Today, closed-end fund products include fund-of-fund vehicles investing in underlying hedge fund managers as well as co-investment products directly invested across multiple strategies. We are seeking an individual to perform the middle and back-office functions described above for this family of funds.

Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for providing operational support for the BAA Closed-End Fund team within the Business Operations department. The individual's responsibilities will likely include:

• Monitoring fund-level and underlying investment performance and preparing periodic analysis and reporting for our investment research professionals and portfolio managers.
• Preparation of quarterly fund valuations and annual financial statements for assigned funds.
• Preparation of detailed quarterly reporting provided to fund investors.
• Review of quarterly fund valuations and quarterly investor reporting for other closed-end funds.
• Preparation and presentation of internal Board materials.
• Manage relationships with external fund administrators, including coordination of quarterly deliverables.
• Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with GAAP and other standards, as applicable.
• Management of investor capital call and distribution activities.
• Coordination with independent auditors during annual audit process.
• Responding to client inquiries and prospective client requests.
• Ensuring assigned funds comply with all regulatory and compliance requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
• Three to six years of relevant accounting experience. Investment or private equity accounting experience desirable.
• Solid analytical, communication and organizational skills.
• Advanced accounting knowledge.
• Interest in the financial markets and financial instruments.
• Ability to lead and coordinate projects involving multiple teams across the firm.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Fluent in Microsoft Office products including advanced understanding in Excel.
• Attention to detail with a "zero tolerance" approach to errors.
• Secure, able to respond positively to colleagues who challenge.
