Fund Analyst

Fund Analyst –

 

Global asset management company whose assets under management exceed £160bn.  The firm provides a wide range of Equity, Fixed Income, Real Estate, Absolute Return and Multi-Manager / Fund of Fund investment solutions to both institutional and retail clients.

 

The team provides fund research and analysis on both external and internal Fund Managers and investment products.   This eight member team are responsible for over £3.0bn of assets, across 30 different portfolios and advise on a further £1.5bn of assets.

This high profile team continues to experience rapid growth in assets under management, demand for new products and support for existing ones.  Consequently, the ability to work within an evolving structure will be essential. 

Role

 

  1. Be involved in reviewing the outputs of the quantitative research process, used to screen the fund universe.

 

  1. Review existing approved funds as part of a rolling programme on both a quantitative and qualitative basis.

 

  1. Research, identify and recommend new funds for approval.

 

  1. Support the continuance and enhancement of the investment process.

 

  1. Follow a fund selection and de-selection process, using the defined process.

 

  1. Support the maintenance of a database of funds and managers which represent approved, reserves and considered, but excluded recommendations.

 

  1. Support the Quantitative Analysts and Desk Support Assistance with maintaining the investment process where appropriate.

 

  1. Work closely with Senior Analysts

 

Key Knowledge/Experience/Qualifications

 

 

  1. Graduate, with a degree in a highly numerate or business subject.

 

  1. IMC and working towards or completed CFA.

 

  1. Circa 5 years experience within the Financial Services Industry, possibly from within a Fund of Funds, Insurance Company, Consultant or Wealth Management organisation.  Focusing on Fund Manager research and selection within traditional long-only or alternative asset classes.

 

  1. Primary experience within UK Retail Investment Funds, although some international experience would be a plus.

 

  1. Experience of working within a similar Fund research and selection environment,

 

  1. Well-developed interpersonal skills facilitating communication with a wide range of business units and understanding of fund manager behaviour/motivations.

 

  1. Systems and technology know-how.

  1. Team orientated individual who is prepared to support colleagues and work as part of a disciplined investment process.

 

  1. Good understanding of the role of Collective Investment Schemes as part of the portfolio construction process.

 

  1. Highly numerate and literate with a broad understanding of the principals of investment management.

 

  1. Appropriate systems and technology know-how.  (Morningstar, Bloomberg etc)
