Fund Development Executive recruitment
Role
Fund Development is primarily the product management centre for all of the company’s products across the full product range of alternative investment products, traditional investment products, fund of funds and single manager funds in addition to structured products. Fund Development provides input at the conceptual stages of a product’s beginning through to implementation and completion of the product initiative. This role is within a team of four.
Responsibilities
- Working with product sponsors (Fund Managers, Business Heads and Sales Teams) at the conceptual stages of all product initiatives, providing constructive input on the business case, feasibility, optimal jurisdictional domicile, regulatory regimes and timeframes for new products and the proposed legal and operational mechanics to take the product through to completion.
- Acting as project-co-ordinator, providing management and control over the execution of project initiatives from business acceptance through to delivery. Communicating timelines and co-ordinating with internal and external functions such as sales teams, marketing, operations, fiduciaries etc. to ensure product is delivered to expectation.
- Preparation of offering documentation (prospectus/private placement memoranda/trust deeds etc.) relating to the fund vehicle establishment across a broad range of jurisdictions, in particular the UK, Ireland and BVI, and providing input into the terms and conditions of material contracts from a business perspective where necessary.
- Acting as main contact and liaison with fund service providers such as legal council, tax advisers, external investment managers where applicable, fiduciaries, product distributors and internal service providers and functionaries to agree all terms pertaining to the product and to finalise all offering documentation.
- Ensuring the operational infrastructure is in place to manage new products, in particular liaising on such issues as fund dealing, valuation and accounting.
- Product Management on an on-going basis involving the planning and implementation of product restructures or product augmentation initiatives such as fund mergers, new share class issuances and product modifications to maintain each fund’s market appeal and regulatory integrity.
- Recommending and implementing the proposed closures of any funds including the preparation of circulars and the provision of advice on market communication and co-ordinating the operational impact.
- Together with the corporate secretary, co-ordinating the timely registration and, where relevant, stock exchange listings of funds in countries outside their domicile.
- Researching ad hoc requests for information from all departments within GAM on all issues relating to the product base.
Person specification
- Hold a business, legal, economic or relevant degree
- Product management and/or legal experience within an asset management house
- In depth knowledge of fund of funds, single manager and multi-manager structures and strategies across all asset types and regulatory regimes
- Ability to draft and review legal documentation.
- Comfortable with understanding and applying knowledge of complex derivative instruments within a fund structure
- Working knowledge of UCITS III and non-UCITS regulatory regimes, particularly in Ireland and the UK
- Proficient with understanding the mechanics of complex fund structure
- Experience in dealing with external legal firms
- Accuracy and attention to detail paramount
- A pro-active self starter
