Fund Manager – Real Estate Debt recruitment

 Purpose

• To act as Fund manager

• To play an active role in the development and marketing of the Fund

• To forge an effective working relationship with existing internal finance subsidiary, and contribute to the development of an effective operating model for the operation of the fund and sharing of roles/responsibilities.

• To ensure that all appropriate governance / risk management is observed in operation of the Fund (i.e. business plans are in place and up to date, investment committees are operating effectively in accordance with authority levels etc.)

• To consider and pursue as appropriate new business development opportunities in the real estate debt space

• To take the lead for hiring as appropriate to augment firm's capability in the real estate debt space, as required to meet firm's strategic objectives.

• To provide ad hoc support to members of the Real Estate team who are dealing with raising or refinancing debt secured on real estate assets

• To work closely with other members of the Real Estate team, and in particular to leverage the existing resource base for underwriting of newly originated commercial mortgages.

• To actively promote firm in the market, with particular focus on our real estate debt capabilities.

Accountabilities:

Key Outputs

• Achieving the performance targets and other objectives the Fund. 

• Funds meet the targets set out in their annual business plans (including investment targets and equity / debt raising)

.

• Full compliance with Fund investment and operating criteria, and with relevant regulatory requirements

• Excellence in written and verbal client service.

• Ensuring that risks are managed appropriately (including loan risks (covenant breach / repayment), conflict risks etc.)

• As applicable, ensure any direct report is appropriately resourced and motivated at all times, having clear measurable objectives and clear and constructive feedback on performance.  Ensure that a training and development programme is in place.

• Represent the interests of Real Estate Debt within firm and act as the primary conduit to ensuring proper and appropriate interaction with other business areas, ensuring in particular that the required level of service is received from the Finance, Strategy and Research and Fixed Income areas.

• Provide leadership (working in close association with Global Business Development) into new business development in the Real Estate Debt area

Act as external ambassador on Real Estate Debt as an asset class within the wider real estate market.

Qualifications

• Degree

• Investment Management Certificate

• Relevant qualification

Skills

• Property lending (origination, management) in UK and preferably also continental Europe

• Product development in the real estate debt area

• An understanding of and ability to develop fund strategy and investment processes in a rapidly changing environment

• Innovative thinker and ability to execute ideas into reality.

• Presentational skills.

• Report writing skills.

• Knowledge of fund accounting issues

Experience

• Track record in property lending (origination, management) in UK and preferably also continental Europe

• Experience of developing / launching new products

• Preparing and presenting to new clients (winning business) and existing clients (fund reporting)

• Operating successfully within a performance and profit generating culture.
