Fund of Funds Controller recruitment
The Townsend Group is a global institutional real estate investment advisor with locations in the United States, Hong Kong and London. Our client base spans nearly a dozen countries and collectively committed approximately $10 billion to private real estate funds and other similar vehicles globally during the last year. The Townsend Group also manages direct co-investments for several large discretionary co-investment funds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Part of Townsend’s client base is composed of a series of pooled funds that have raised capital from high-net-worth US investors and certain non-US investors. Townsend also manages direct co-investments for several large discretionary co-investment funds.
The Fund of Fund Controller will assist in administering the funds that Townsend manages. He/she will report to Townsend’s Corporate Controller and work directly with its portfolio management team.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Prepare quarterly reports and assist in the preparation of annual GAAP financial statements for Townsend’s funds.
- Maintain capital account balances.
- Work with outside accountants to manage the audit process and the production of tax reports for investors.
- Manage cash needs for each fund by working with portfolio managers and external credit providers.
- Participate in fund structuring and in the negotiation of revolving credit facilities with lenders.
- Supervise fund accountants and fund administrators
- Assist with fund legal compliance.
SKILLS:
- 7 years of accounting experience required.
- Familiarity with GAAP, particularly as it relates to private investment companies.
- Experience with partnership capital accounting and the ability to interpret and implement complex fund documents.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. May be called upon to work with managers of underlying funds, outside accountants and attorneys and to speak with fund investors and prospective investors.
- Experience with private fund management and/or experience with real estate investments is preferred.
- A team player who has ability to multi-task, and is self-directed.
- Strong analytical, accounting, and reporting skills with high attention to detail.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and basic accounting systems.
- B.S. in Accounting or related field required. CPA license preferred.
