Fund Specialist
Opportunity This is a new role within MAGIM Equities to better equip us to achieve the commercial potential of our products in the retail/advisory channels of Europe by communicating the investment messages in the local language in the local regions. Based in London, the role is positioned within the investment team of MAGIM Equities, working particularly closely with the Investment Specialists. It will cover a strategic selection of funds across equities, offering a number of investment opportunities to our clients.
For this particular search we are looking for a Fund Specialist to be a credible representative for the equities investment team of the selected funds in front of audiences of investment advisors in Italy (promotori). The individual must fully understand and be able to clearly explain in Italian the investment proposition, including a fund's philosophy, approach, process and positioning, to audiences of up to 100 advisors at a time, fielding questions from the floor.
Utilising strong interpersonal skills, the individual will liaise closely with the Italian sales channel and regional marketing and press team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with the Investment Specialist for each fund involved, supporting them where appropriate and will report into one of the senior investment specialists co-managing the IS team.
Key responsibilities * Work with the fund management team, particularly the Investment Specialist, to build and maintain a solid knowledge base of the selected funds (investment philosophy, fund approach and process, key fund holdings and portfolio characteristics, market views) * Work alongside the Investment Specialist to liaise with sales, investment content, regional marketing and press to ensure efficient preparation of marketing materials for the Italian distribution channel and to get a good understanding of the Italian market. * Review the current promotional material created by marketing for the Italian channel. * Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including investment specialists, fund managers, sales, investment marketing, marketing and press.
What we are looking for
* The successful candidate is likely to have strong post graduate experience, preferably within the asset management industry. * Enthusiasm for investment and the ability to absorb investment issues. * A dynamic person with strong interpersonal skills: ability to establish credibility with investment specialists, fund managers, the distribution channel and clients. * Strong communication skills: ability to communicate the investment messages of a number of different equity funds to audiences in the retail/advisory channel in Italy. * Very good presentation skills essential: ability to represent the investment teams to larger audiences in an engaging manner. * Good organisational skills: ability to manage priorities. * Proactive nature: ability to anticipate future requirements and generate ideas. * Commercial awareness: ability to understand client perspectives. * Language skills: fluency in Italian essential, plus French would be highly preferable. * Professional qualifications: working towards (or willing to work towards) CFA.
