Playdom is seeking experienced Gameplay Programmers to join our game team in the new Austin, Texas Studio. As a Gameplay Programmer, you are a solution-orientedsoftware engineer, using technology as a creative tool to deliver an entertaining online gaming experience. You are tasked with creating a highly engaging gaming experience that meets both the overall company’s goals and needs of the consumer. Collaborating closely with a game producer, designer and artists, you contribute to the vision and execution of the game design, providing strong insights into technical feasibility and consistently learning new technology to improve platform efficiency.

• Develop high quality and high performance games, features, and functionality that are both efficient and scalable

• Maintain and develop strong engineer skills in programming languages, such as Lua and Actionscript

• Determine and communicate technical feasibility and development timelines that meet the team and company objectives

• Collaborate with game design team to provide feedback on game concepts and design process

• Research and acclimate to emerging technologies and applicable changes in the gaming and design space

• 1-5 years of development experience

• Experience with Lua, or other game development scripting languages

• BSCS or equivalent

• Learn and employ best practices including design patterns and peer code review

• Demonstrated ability to work well in a collaborative team environment

• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly (experience touching lots of different technologies)

• Enthusiasm for the technologies involved

• High integrity, strong organization skills and the ability to estimate/deliver on those estimates

• 3-6 weeks of out-of-state travel required for training at the start of the job
