Gas Combustion Engineer Gas Cooking Products Job

The Gas Combustion Engineer is a key engineering position that develops new gas combustion technologies and components for cooking products. This role is responsible for providing technical analysis and designs from concept to production utilizing computational fluid dynamics, thermal modeling, analysis of prototyped systems and components, and assessments of combustion systems. This individual will be a key member of the gas cooking products team and assist in launching new products. Essential Responsibilities Analytically and empirically assess the suitability of gas combustion components, subsystems and design approaches Conduct and utilize FMEAs in order to establish design feasibility evaluation plans, and lead the execution and analysis of the data generated by the evaluation plans Compile and present analysis for technical design reviews during the product development cycle Collaborate and support fellow team members in analysis, assessment, and problem solving Investigate and identify root cause of failures and anomalies discovered during the product development cycle and propose and implement corrective actions Apply the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology to subsystems and parts being developed Develop technical specifications for gas components -identify critical to quality dimensions and processes related to components and subsystems designed and establish appropriate tolerance limits Establish, validate, and assess the reliability targets required for components and subsystems including the affect of system interactions Qualifications/Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 10 years design experience Minimum of 5 years gas combustion experience Experience in gas-fired burner development Good understanding in the areas of fluid dynamics and heat transfer Knowledge of gas regulations Ability to effectively utilize CFD modeling Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 5 years gas product development experience Six Sigma certified or demonstrated equivalent experience with statistical tools.
