Gas Controller
Responsibilities of a Controller include: • Ensuring the Tennessee Gas Pipeline system is operated in a safe, dependable, and efficient manner • Analyzing and controlling the natural gas pipeline system using a SCADA system and other related tools • Following directives of a System Controller and assisting in the day to day decision making process of operating the pipeline system • Operating the system within the guidelines of pipeline tariff and regulatory agencies • Responding to all alarms and emergencies based on the established protocol • Identifying operational problems occurring on the pipeline system and report/manage them based on established protocol • Ensuring all internal and external customer issues are managed based on established procedures • Documenting all relevant operational information
Qualification requirements include: • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent years experience working in the natural gas industry is required. Degree in math, science, engineering, or computer science is preferred. A general understanding of statistics is a plus. A working knowledge of gas hydraulics and compressors is desired. • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to identify abnormal operating conditions • Ability to work in a team environment, to be an effective communicator and to operate under stressful conditions • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products • Capability of obtaining DOT operator qualification by successfully completing the company’s training and subsequent testing program within the prescribed timeframe • Availability to work a rotating 12 hour shift schedule including nights, holidays, and weekends • Availability to work in Downtown Houston during the work week and in an office northwest of Houston on nights and weekends
