Northrop Grumman is searching for a mid/senior Systems Engineer 3 to support the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Global Command and Control System - Joint (GCCS-J) program on-site at the DISA Headquarters, Ft. Meade, MD.
The Engineer will serve in a high profile capacity to provide technical expertise of the system at large. We need a self-starter to perform a variety of systems engineering activities for GCCS-J at Northrop Grumman.
Primary responsibilities all stem from a thorough understanding of interactions and interfaces within the system as well as the ability to assemble and install an expansive and complex Joint and Service C3I system. Team members must be comfortable in front of the customer in various capacities.
Key duties include:
Work closely with the Government task monitors, customers, and Family of Systems (FoS) stakeholders to support on-site systems engineering activities.
Candidate must have proven skills in critical thinking, troubleshooting, communication and organization.
Must be able to quickly assimilate and contribute to a dynamic environment and exhibit an ability and desire to self educate.
Develop technical concepts, position papers, decision briefings, courses of action, and assist the customer in determining technical ways ahead.
Assist with the planning, sequencing, coordination, and government approval of GCCS-J releases and deliveries.
Participate in various GCCS-J engineering forums to include the GCCS FoS Systems Engineering (SE) Integrated Product Team (IPT), SE and Integration Working Group (SEIWG), Production and Test IPT, and other technical meetings.
Work with Government and contract support teams to resolve emergent issues with regards to GCCS-J sustainment, synchronization, and modernization.
Position requires direct engineering support to our customer.
Position includes possible travel, which may be a week in duration.
Basic Requirements:
BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering or similar discipline
5+ years experience in systems engineering
Understanding of industry software/system development lifecycle methodologies
Familiar with cross-platform development, particularly Windows and Unix
Familiar with Agile SW development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Extreme Programming) and support tools.
Secret Clearance
Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Project) suite
Experience in object oriented analysis and design and DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) architecture product development
Desired qualities:
Attention to detail coupled with the ability to quickly learn new procedures with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work under pressure with multiple deadlines, dynamic schedules, and tasking.
Good analytical and communication skills
Experience in a Military or operational environment
GCCS-J or other Defense command and control systems engineering experience
